Sherry Jorgensen – Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technician
Sherry Jorgensen is our clinical contact lens technician. She came to us with over 35 years experience in all aspects of the ophthalmic technician position, including retinoscopy and refraction, extraocular muscle motility, applanation tonometry, a-scan, HRT, OCT, and visual field testing.
She has worked for over a decade in the hospital research setting (University of Utah Moran Eye center, Salt Lake City, Utah, and children’s National Medical Center, DC) as well as in private practice which has given her an extensive background in the ophthalmic field.
She provides comprehensive and personalized contact lens fittings for routine, toric, monovision, pediatric, keratoconus and post-corneal transplant patients.
Sherry spends her free time pursuing her passion for photography and missions. She utilizes her refractive skills in third world countries, providing eye glasses for those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to see. Her photojournalism of theses trips has provided the exposure needed to help funding for these events.
She collaborated with a physician from Children’s Hospital to form a non-profit eye surgical and clinical mission trip to the poorest province of the Dominican Republic. Presently about 26 ophthalmologists and ancillary help are active in these trips to provide eye care to the Dominican Republic.
